Serious Considerations That Can't Be Ignored

“We all pray to the same god.”—Jonathan Roumie
Rick Warren left Saddleback to “work with churches of every denomination.” “You’ve got Catholics, and Jews, and Mormons, and evangelicals. We’re all loving the same show, so maybe, just maybe, we’re loving the same Jesus.”—Dallas Jenkins

Dear Reader,

The history, direction, and future of The Chosen TV Series is one of serious biblical compromise and worldly ecumenism. Having a clear understanding of the meaning of the cultic methodology of 'redefinition of terms' will bring great clarity on the subject.

The Chosen TV series is 95% fiction and members of the Mormon Church (a pseudo-Christian cult) are helping creator, director, co-writer, and co-producer Dallas Jenkins create more unbiblical content. In many cases, the five-percent of biblical content within The Chosen is being twisted and distorted through additions and subtractions from Scripture.

The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins claims to be an evangelical Christian. However, Dallas Jenkins, with his Temple Mormon co-producer friends and hyper-Roman Catholic actor Jonathan Roumie ("Jesus" in The Chosen) are all part of creating this emotionally driven, spiritually ecumenical, unbiblical, and seriously blasphemous TV series.

As plain as can be stated, The Chosen TV series, with its coalescing with Roman Catholicism (Hallow App) and its sympathies with the cult of Mormonism:

1) Adds to the Word of God,

2) Subtracts from the Deity of Jesus Christ,

3) Multiplies the requirements for salvation, and

4) Divides peoples' loyalty between the biblical Jesus Christ and the false christs of The Chosen, the cult of Mormonism, and Roman Catholicism.

The resources provided here are to help you avoid false religions and cultic methodologies that hijack the Bible, redefine terms, twist the Scriptures, and even use gullible and undiscerning Christians (like Dallas Jenkins) to help promote their agenda. Dallas Jenkins and Jonathan Roumie are entertaining people with a false, counterfeit christ. They and all others who are enamored with The Chosen would do well to heed the words of God our Savior, Jesus Christ, who said,

"Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many." (Matt. 24:4-5).

The Chosen Television Series created, directed, and co-written by Dallas Jenkins

The Chosen television series is a drama based on the life of Jesus of Nazareth. American filmmaker Dallas Jenkins is the creator, director, and co-writer. The Christian discernment articles, books, and videos presented on this page reveal the grave theological problems and spiritual confusion with The Chosen TV Series. Dallas Jenkins has stated that 95% of The Chosen's historical drama content is not from the Bible.

Furthermore, Dallas Jenkins himself has stated that he as an evangelical Christian—and Mormons "love the same Jesus."  In saying this, Jenkins is implying that Christians and Mormons love the same Jesus. It is a proven theological fact that the Mormon Jesus is not the same as the biblical Jesus. In fact, the Mormon Jesus is a false/counterfeit Christ; "another Jesus" type of spiritual entity that Paul the Apostle warned about (2 Cor. 11:1-4, 13-15).

In comparing the person, nature, and work of the biblical Jesus Christ with what Mormon literature says and teaches about the Mormon Jesus, the theological differences are as clear as night and day. Historically, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormonism) has been recognized as a pseudo-Christian cult. Even Dallas Jenkins' own family had concerns about him working with the Mormons.

You can listen to Dallas Jenkins speak about this in the video below. Here is a screenshot of the video where Dallas Jenkins (creator, director, and co-writer) makes numerous shocking statements while doing a video interview with a Mormon on the Saints Unscripted.

To watch or read the entire context of Dallas Jenkins' quote, just scroll down to the bottom of this page. But remember, and be forewarned—according to Dallas Jenkins, "The stories of Jesus we do agree on, and we love the same Jesus." Written another way for clarification on what Dallas Jenkins is really communicating in his interview, "The stories of Jesus we [Christian and Mormons] do agree on, and we [Christian and Mormons] love the same Jesus."

Dallas Jenkins has made it very clear where his theological convictions are. Regarding this statement about loving "the same Jesus" as Mormons do, he publicly declares,

“I don't mind being called a blasphemer...I made it very clear, that um, if I go down I'm going down swinging protecting my friends and my brothers and sisters [Mormons]." —Dallas Jenkins

"...my growing brother and sisterhood with people of the LDS community [Mormons]...we love the same Jesus, um that's not something you often hear...I'll sink or swim on that statement, and it's controversial, and I, um, I don't mind getting criticized at all for the show, and I don't mind being called a blasphemer...I made it very clear, that um, if I go down I'm going down swinging protecting my friends and my brothers and sisters [Mormons] and so, I don't deny we have a lot of theological differences, but we, we love the same Jesus…” —Dallas Jenkins

"Get used to different"Dallas Jenkins' The Chosen catch-phrase, for apparel too!

"The stories of Jesus we do agree on, and we love the same Jesus." —Dallas Jenkins

Stated completely in context, here is the actual interview dialogue within the YouTube video transcript of Dallas Jenkins on the Saints Unscripted video interview.

“So I can honestly say, it’s been one of the top three most fascinating and beautiful things about this project – it’s been my growing brother and sisterhood with people of the LDS community that I never would’ve known otherwise and I learned so much about your faith tradition and realizing, gosh, for all the stuff that maybe we don’t see eye to eye on…that all happened, that’s all based on stuff that happened after Jesus was here. The stories of Jesus we do agree on, and we love the same Jesus. That’s not something you often hear…sometimes it’s like, oh they believe in a different Jesus than we do. No, it’s the same, I mean I’ll sink or swim on that statement. I know that’s controversial and I don’t mind getting criticized at all for the show, and I don’t mind being called a blasphemer, I don’t like it when my friends are. I made it very clear that if I go down, I’m going down protecting my friends and my brothers and sisters and so I don’t deny we have a lot of theological differences but we love the same Jesus.”  —Dallas Jenkins

The non-Christian cult of Mormonism has "another [qualitatively different] Jesus... another spirit... and another gospel."Paul, the apostle, warned about counterfeit Christian spirituality, masquerading as the real thing, and based upon "another Jesus...another spirit...and another gospel." Meaning, Paul warned about false and unbiblical ideas of "Jesus" that are qualitatively different than the actual Jesus of Nazareth, the Holy Spirit, and the gospel account as found in the Bible.

"Would to God ye could [I wish you would] bear with me [while I indulge] a little in my folly: and indeed bear with me [as you read this]. For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity [of your sincere and pure devotion] that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him [you seem willing to allow it]." —2 Corinthians 11:1-4, emphasis added

The historical Jesus of Nazareth in the Holy Bible is not the same spiritual being as the "Jesus" of the Mormons! In fact, the long-time recognized cultic theology on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) website clarifies this, as does the Holy Bible. The Bible, published nearly two-thousand years previous to young Joseph Smith's occult "visions" and communication with the "angel" Moroni, warned about such impostors like Joseph Smith. The Bible  warns about those who would confuse the historical Jesus  with the counterfeits. Dallas Jenkins is no exception to the rule, and he should know better than to blur theological lines. The Bible also very clearly warns that we are to "mark," or keep a close watch on those who would bring teaching that in contrary to what the Jesus and the apostles taught.

Now I beseech you, brethren [Christians], mark them [keep a close watch on them] which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. —Romans 16:17-18, emphasis added

THE CHOSEN and THE BIBLE—Serious Considerations The Can't Be Ignored

by Spiritual Research Network (June, 2024)

(Read or purchase)

Today, The Chosen TV series has been viewed by millions of people around the world. Its devoted fans have also donated millions of dollars to the series’ record-breaking crowdfunding campaign. Any biblical criticism of The Chosen is usually countered by Dallas Jenkins and Chosen fans with—“Hey, it’s just a TV show!” However, Jenkins seems to already be following William Paul Young’s Shack universalism path as he uses his highly visible Chosen platform to introduce mystical New Age Catholic universalists like Richard Rohr and Brother Lawrence to his ever-growing fan base. Obviously, the lesson Christians should have learned from The Shack has been lost amidst all The Chosen fanfare. And the lesson is that fictional false Christs can be used by our Spiritual Adversary to cleverly condition and deceive people. In short, what seems to be “just a novel” or “just a TV show” can turn out to be something else entirely.Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. (2 Corinthians 2:11)

This booklet contains 20 questions we should ask ourselves before considering watching The Chosen.
